Baxolile Ngoloyi (36) the former Bhisho Hospital Systems Controller got convicted on Monday, 8 March 2021, in the Port Elizabeth Serious Commercial Crime Court for charges of fraud, money laundering and corruption.

It is alleged that between 21 December 2017 to 6 June 2018 Ngoloyi connived with the Director of Eza Services and Suppliers, Simthembile Smith (36). The pair unduly benefited approximately R250 000-00 after submitting invoices to the Department of Health for services that were never rendered.

Smith and his entity Eza Services and Suppliers were already sentenced on 12 December 2020 after pleading guilty as charged. Ngoloyi was arrested on 30 January 2020, by the Hawks following an investigation. He elected to proceed with the trial after pleading not guilty hence his recent conviction.

The case has been remanded to 3 May 2021 for sentencing proceedings to commence.

The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations Major General Obed Ngwenya commended the Serious Corruption Crime Investigation team for their laborious efforts in ensuring that offenders are brought to book.
