Centane Police arrested two men aged 23 and 27 for possession of unlicensed firearm, a pistol. It is alleged that the two suspects attempted to rob people at Gqunqe Village, Centane with the firearm on Saturday 25 May 2019, at about 19:00.
Community members apprehended the suspects and informed Centane Police. Police arrived and arrested the two suspects. The firearm had no ammunition. Both suspects will appear before the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Monday 27 May 2019, on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm.
Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu thanked the members of the community of Gqunqe Village, Centane for their assistance in the fight against crime.
