The 18 years imprisonment handed down to 20-year-old Luphiwe Xakwe by the Tsomo Regional Magistrate Court on Tuesday 11 July 2017 for raping a 13-year-old girl on 18 June 2016 at Khothana Village, Nqamakhwe is welcomed by the Eastern Cape police.
And we trust that the lengthy sentence will serve as a deterrent to criminals preying on our children who are not in a position to defend themselves.
The accused tricked the victim to enter his home on 18 June 2016 at about 14:00 at Khothana Village, Nqamakhwe. Once they inside his room, he threatened the victim with a knife and raped her.
