A 29 year old Mdantsane woman was arrested for child neglect, after leaving her four kids alone as she visited her boyfriend. It is alleged that she left the kids on Sunday 7 July 2019, with no food to eat. The ages of the children are 4, 6, 8 and 9 years old respectively.

Members of the community intervened and reported the matter to the social workers, a child neglect case was opened at Mdantsane police station. The suspect was arrested for child neglect on 14 July 2019, and is expected to appear soon in the Mdantsane Magistrates’ Court once charged.

Mdantsane Cluster Commander, Major General Henry Vos said, “My team and I undertake to keep the commitment we made in our code of conduct by making sure that we shall protect the citizens of this country. I would like to further urge the parents to make sure that children are not left unattended.”
