Centane Police are investigating a murder case of a 29 year old woman. It is alleged that a man knocked at the homestead of the woman pretending to be looking for assistance. The incident took place on the morning of 20 July 2019, at about 05h00 at Komkhulu Locality, Centule Village, Centane.
When the woman opened the door to offer assistance to the man, the suspect fired some shots at the woman. She passed away at the scene. The suspect then fled.
The relative of the deceased who was also in the same house could not see the suspect and alerted the community about the murder. The motive behind the murder is not yet clear. The identity of the deceased is still being withheld until all her relatives are officially informed of her murder.
The acting Butterworth Cluster Commander, Colonel Ncedo Ngwendze condemned the brutal murder of a defenceless woman. He appealed to the women to be vigilant and not allow strangers in their homesteads especially during the night.
