Centane Police are investigating a murder case of a 63 year old woman. The deceased was discovered by her neighbour on Friday, 12 April 2019 at about 06:00. The murder is believed to have been committed on Thursday, 11 April 2019 during the night at the homestead of the deceased namely at Mandluntsha Locality, Mcothama Village, Centane.

The deceased suffered wounds from a sharp object seemingly a knife to her upper body. Police believe that the suspect/s used the door to enter as it was found open. The deceased was staying alone at her home as her children are working outside Eastern Cape Province.

The motive behind the murder is not yet clear at this point in time. No one has been arrested yet. Centane Police appeals to anyone with information about this murder to contact them at 047 498 1069/ 073 288 0340. The information will be treated confidentially. The identity of the deceased is still being withheld as some of her relatives are yet to be informed of her murder.

Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu condemned the cold blooded murder of a defenceless woman. He vowed that Centane Police detectives will leave no stone unturned as they will work around the clock to bring perpetrators to book.
