Centane Police arrested a 22 year old man for alleged murder of a 20 year old man. It is alleged that the 20 year old man was going home to Khantolo Village, Centane with his girlfriend on Sunday 30 September 2018 at about 02:30.
The suspect was walking behind the couple at a densely populated forest near Centane town as the couple was going home. The suspect took beer off the 20 year old man and then allegedly stabbed him. The 20 year man old died at the scene.
The girlfriend made the alarm and Centane Police went to investigate. They were told that the suspect run to the forest.
Centane Police looked for the suspect in the forest and found him. He has been charged with murder and will appear before the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Monday 01 October 2018 on a murder charge. The identity of the deceased is still being withheld until his relatives are officially informed of his murder.
Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu commended the Centane Police for their vigilance and swift action that has resulted in the successful tracing and arresting of the suspect.
