Police have arrested three men aged between 33 and 35 following a scamming of a woman’s bank cards at Nahoon shopping complexes on 9 July 2019. The involved suspect and the vehicles were viewed on CCTV footage. Police immediately activated their intelligence units.

Information gathered led the police to a shopping complex at NU6, Mdantsane where the suspects were spotted. Upon seeing the police, one suspect jumped out of the vehicle and tried to flee, he was swiftly apprehended. Two rented vehicles were confiscated by police, suspects were also found in possession of a number of bank cards.

The suspects will appear before the East London Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 11 July 2019 facing charges of fraud.

The Cambridge station commander Brigadier Pumla Mdlankomo, has commended the swift action of her members as this is seen as a breakthrough in breaking the backbone of a syndicate operating in this area.
