The Provincial Gang Investigation Unit is appealing to the community to assist them in tracing two suspected Hondekoppe gang members who allegedly fired shots at a house in Burke Street, Bloemendal, fatally injuring a 58 year old innocent bystander.

According to police information, it is alleged that on Thursday, 29 November 2018 at about 14:00, the two gang members approached the house of another gang member (belonging to the same gang) and started firing at it. A stray bullet hit Ambrose Booi in his chest. He died on the scene. The Suspects ran away. No one was injured in the house.

The shooting is gang related and police is appealing to the community to provide information relating to the suspects.

Mount Road Cluster Commander, Maj Gen Thembisile Patekile commented that ‘we cannot allow innocent lives to be lost at the merciless hands of criminals. It’s time that the community took a stand and exposed them. These criminals need to be put behind bars where they belong. Our investigating team will be working around the clock to arrest these suspects but community involvement is pivotal in the war against these gangsters.’
