The members of the South African Police Service attached to the Indwe Detective Service are investigating a case of business robbery after two suspects were nabbed on 16 June 2020.

It is alleged that there was a business robbery in progress at Sky shop, Mavuyi location during which two suspects entered the shop and threatened the owner. They took an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

Police members were alerted and a search for the suspects ensued. They were apprehended near the train station.

Upon searching the suspects, a firearm, a gas pistol and cash were found in their possession. Both suspects briefly appeared in the Indwe Magistrate’s Court on 17 June 20202 facing two counts of business robbery and possession of firearm.

The suspects are still in custody with no bail. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to establish if it were used during the commission of any other crimes in the country.

The Elliot Cluster Commander, Colonel Matshidiso Gezani applauded the quick reaction by the members that made the arrest possible.
