Their efforts have yielded significant success as the accused , Siphoxolo Myekethe (45,) believed to be involved in the Lusikisiki mass shooting briefly appeared at Lusikisiki Magistrate Court today, 09 October 2024, on charges of murder (18 counts) and possession of unlicensed firearm. He was remanded in custody, and the case was postponed to Tuesday, 15 October 2024.
Police made a major breakthrough on the Lusikisiki mass shooting incident on Monday, 07 October 2024, when they arrested a 45-year-old suspect. The investigation led police to the arrest of the suspect at his homestead in Mcothini Village outside Lusikisiki.
The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene commended the collaborative effort and describe the arrest as a major breakthrough. Police will make every effort to ensure that all those responsible for the shooting are brought to justice,” Lt Gen Mene concluded.
