SAPS Thornhill detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying an unknown male whose body had washed ashore early on the morning of 20 November 2022.
It is alleged that at about 07:20 an angler was fishing between the Gamtoos and the Van Stadens river mouth when he noticed the body of a person on the shore.
Due to the decomposition of the body, the race and age could not be determined.
An inquest docket has been opened for investigation.
Police are appealing to anyone who can assist in identifying the body or may know of anyone who may have drowned or missing recently, to contact SAPS Thornhill D/W/O Heinrich Rheeder on 083 682 0386.
