Centane Police arrested a 47 year old man for alleged murder of his mother aged 71. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 13 August 2019. It is alleged that the suspect stabbed his mother on her upper body with a bush knife on Monday, 12 August 2019 at about 16:00 at Mgobhozi Locality, Macibe Village, Centane.
The 71 year old mother was rushed to Butterworth Hospital where she later passed away. It is alleged that the suspect accused his mother of bewitching him as he saw her in his dreams. Eastern Cape Police Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant- General Liziwe Ntshinga condemned the alleged murder of a defenceless woman.
Lieutenant General Ntshinga was even shocked that the alleged perpetrator is the biological son of the deceased. The suspect is appearing before the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 14 August 2019, on a charge of murder.
