In less than a month, a robbery accused was arrested, found guilty and sentenced in the Port Elizabeth Regional court.
On 7 October 2019 at 17:00, the 37 year old complainant was walking in Armeria Crescent in Ext 30 in Bethelsdorp with her son when the accused Lucaine Coetzee approached them with a knife.
A cell phone and a small amount of cash was taken. Coetzee was apprehended by the complainant’s fiancé.
On Thursday, 24 October 2019, Coetzee was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga welcomed the sentencing as robbery is a common problem in area.
