On the afternoon of 17 February 2021, at about 17:00, police arrested two suspects aged 22 and 24 years for possession of stolen property at Khayelitsha Township in Bedford.

The arrest follows after a house was burgled while the owners were away. Police received information that the property that was stolen in a house in town was being sold in Khayelitsha and Ndlovini Township in Bedford.

They quickly went to the houses where the items were sold and managed to recover Lawnmower, single bed, washing machine, fourteen (14) pieces of curtains, gas webber and stove, flat screen television to the estimated value of more than fifty thousand rand.

The two suspects were immediately arrested and charged for housebreaking and theft and possession of stolen property.

The suspects will appear at Adelaide Magistrate Court.

Amathole Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Zinikele Freddie appreciated the swift response by Police members after information was shared to them. He thanked the community members for sharing valuable information with SAPS that led to the arrest of these two suspects and encouraged them to keep on reporting any criminal activities to 08600 10111.
