Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga has strongly condemned the senseless murder of an elderly woman on the night of 18 January, at about 20:50 at Cacadu Village near Dutywa.
“We outright condemn the murder in the strongest terms and we will not allow callous criminals to target the most vulnerable in our society.” said Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga.
It is alleged that the 85 year old woman was with a relative at the time of the attack. The balaclava wearing suspect arrived at the homestead and started attacking the old woman. He fled the scene on foot after killing her.

The identity of the deceased is withheld until all the families are officially informed. The motive for the murder is unknown and will form part of the investigation.
Dutywa police detectives are investigating the murder case and are following strong leads but no one has been arrested yet.
