Ngqamakhwe police are investigating a case of murder. It is alleged that a 64 year old woman was shot and murdered on Thursday, 1 November 2018 at about 19:00 at Ntenza Locality, Vananda Village, Ngqamakhwe.

The victim had just gone outside her house leaving her grandchildren inside the house. The grandchildren heard gun shots and when they went outside, they found their grandmother already passed away. The suspect/s were not seen as they had run away.

The motive for the murder is unknown and Ngqamakhwe police are appealing to anyone with information about the murder to contact Ngqamakhwe police at 047 487007 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111. The deceased was identified as Nomatamnsanqa Matanga.

Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu condemned the senseless of murder of an elderly woman who could not defend herself.
