Dutywa Police arrested three men aged 29, 32 and 40. The three suspects were arrested on Tuesday 7 January 2020, at about 15:00 at Dutywa Town. It is alleged that the three suspects attempted to rob a Spaza shop at Xawuka Village, Dutywa on Tuesday 7 January 2020, at about 14:00

Police were alerted about the attempted robbery and gave chase to the vehicle that was used by the suspects. They were caught at Dutywa Town. The three suspects had unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

One suspect was found in possession of a pistol that had 15 rounds of ammunition, the other one had a pistol that had 8 rounds of ammunition and the third one had a toy gun which resembled a firearm.

All suspects have been charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The suspects are due to appear before the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 8 January 2020.
