Excellent interaction between various stations and specialised units resulted in the speedy arrest of two alleged armed robbery suspects in Rosedale, Kamesh on 3 March 2021.

It is alleged that at about 15:30, three males entered a shop in Falcon Street, Rosedale pretending to purchase airtime. One suspect suddenly drew a firearm, pointed it and threatened the shop owner.

The suspects demanded cash and took an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones and the airtime machine. They then fled on foot from the shop. The shop owner immediately alerted the police and a description of the suspects were circulated.

Police officers gave chase and managed to arrest them and recover the stolen property which is estimated at R30 000. A firearm with ammunition was also confiscated. The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing.

The search for the outstanding suspect is continuing and the two males (both in their twenties) are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 5 March 2021 on charges of armed robbery and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
