Anti-Gang Unit arrest robbery suspect, Gelvandale

Being vigilant and observant at all times while on duty is a requisite for all police officers to ensure the safety of all citizens and to immediately arrest suspects.

On Tuesday, 10 November 2020 at about 06:40, as Anti-Gang Unit members were patrolling the Gelvandale area, they saw a man running down Rabie Street. Members immediately chased after and caught him. On searching him, they found a Huawei P30 Pro in his possession. A woman approached them and reported that the suspect grabbed her cell phone while she was busy messaging someone.

The 26-year-old suspect was detained on a charge of robbery and is expected to appear in court soon.

Police are once again urging pedestrians to be alert of their surroundings and to refrain from using their cellphones in public. Opportunistic criminals are everywhere and will take advantage of any situation to satisfy their needs.
