Andile Lungisa was found guilty of assault with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm after breaking a glass jug over the head of Rano Keyser during a council meeting in October 2016.
He represented himself, but Magistrate Morne Cannon found him guilty and his sentence will follow.
However, Lungisa is very disappointed with his conviction.
