On 7 April 2018 at 14:50 members of the Aliwal North K9 Unit were busy with crime prevention patrols and noticed a vehicle that did not stop at a stop sign. As the members stopped the vehicle it was determined that the driver had no drivers’ license.

He stayed co operative until he noticed that the vehicle was going to be searched. It is then that he slipped away and ran into the bushes close to the Orange River. A backpack containing 400 mandrax tablets to the value of R4000-00 were seized as well as the vehicle.

It is alleged that he was on his way to Burgersdorp. The identity of the suspect was confirmed and all leads are being followed up and an arrest will soon follow. The Cluster Commander Brig Xakavu applauded the members for their swift reaction that made the confiscation possible!
