At the start of the weekend on Friday 26 October 2018, several crime prevention operations and activities were held within the Aliwal North Cluster. At Steynsburg a sub cluster roadblock was held together with Traffic Department and environmental health.
The successes included the stop and search of 48 vehicles. 16 fines were issued, 2 warrants of arrests executed, vehicles suspended and awareness on the selling of expired foods.
In a combined ‘Operation Nyama’ the Aliwal North and Sterkspruit Stock Theft Units together with CI followed up positive information and arrested two suspects age 67 and 52 years for suspected stolen products to the value of R32000. 00 between Herschel and Sterkspruit.
The Cluster Commander Brig Trevor Mey commended the members on the successes and all the crime prevention activities that enhance our police visibility during the weekend.
