Aliwal North cluster gets drugs off the street

South African Police Service

During the weekend several crime prevention duties were performed with the following successes:

At Jamestown on 22 July 2018, at about 19:30 members were busy with crime prevention patrols at Masakhane Township when they received positive information, they followed it up at an identified house and searched the house. Loose dagga in a plastic bag and fifteen parcels of dagga were found hidden in a suitcase.

A 30 year old suspect was arrested for possession of dagga.

As the members were busy with the case they received additional information on a second house that they followed up and searched it. Seven parcels of dagga hidden under a carpet in the house were confiscated.

A 45 year old suspect was arrested.

The Cluster Commander Brig Trevor Mey encouraged the members to continue with our high visibility crime prevention activities and to focus on the crime generators such as drugs.

“Thank you to the community that assist us with the positive information and help us to fight crime” said Brig Trevor Mey.
