Aggravated robbery and rape, man gets 15 years sentence, Kabega Park

On 24 August 2018, Tembelani Fani (31) was sentenced to an effective 15 years for the rape and robbery of a 24 year old victim from Kabega Park. He was sentenced to 10 years for rape and 15 years for aggravated robbery. The sentences will run concurrently.

Crimes against women and children has always been a priority for the SAPS and 2018 was declared as the year where we focus on women, children and the vulnerable groups.

Lt Gen Ntshinga added that “I applaud the excellent convictions secured by FCS Port Elizabeth members as sentences such as these demonstrates the power of forensic evidence and the dedication of our investigators in resolving these types of crime. These sentences will bring justice to the victims and their family. As Women’s month draw to a close, we the SAPS will continue in putting our efforts together and strive to make significant inroads in our fight on gender based violence. The scourge of violence against women, children and the vulnerable will not be tolerated and it is the responsibility of civil society and the police to root out these crimes.”
