On 28 November 2019 at about 16:15 Anti Gang Unit members and Metro police followed up on information received about a firearm in a shack in Vastrap in Booysens Park. On searching the shack, a revolver was found inside. No arrest was made and the firearm was seized. Ownership is yet to be established.

In a separate incident, a couple was arrested by PE K9 and Mount Road members on allegations of assault and abduction. It is alleged that at about 10:30 this morning, PE K9 and Mount Road members responded to a complaint of assault at a business in Newton Park.

On interviewing the 43 year old complainant, it was established that he was assaulted and abducted from his residence in North End by his employer. The complainant was brought to his work place, a mechanical workshop in Newton Park where he was further assaulted. He managed to escape from his assailants and ran into the nearest shop for help.

The complainant further alleged that he was assaulted with a firearm. While members were interviewing the alleged suspect, the alert police officers noticed a woman hastily exiting the workshop. She was followed and stopped at the corners of Cape and 4th Avenue. A 9mm pistol was seized. She was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. The firearm belongs to her husband.

Her husband was arrested for abduction and assault. They are expected to appear in court soon. The firearm was confiscated.
