7 arrested for Madiba’s shop robbery

Walmer Police Station arrested seven suspects within hours after a robbery had taken place at Madiba’s Shop in Airport Valley was reported. The property taken during the robbery were also recovered.

Walmer Police Station were busy attending to the robbery at Madiba’s Shop when they received information regarding suspects involved in the robbery.

Immediately the various units within the station responded to the information and headed out to a shack in Airport Valley. The shack was thoroughly searched and seven suspects were arrested.

Police also seized two firearms with ammunition, four knives, 12 cell phones, airtime to the value of R5000, an undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes, wallets and various other items which was allegedly taken during the robbery at Madiba’s shop.

Walmer Station Commander, Colonel Jacob Flemmer view this arrest as a breakthrough and is confident that these suspects will be linked to other crimes committed within the Walmer policing precinct.

It has been established that these suspects are repeat-offenders for serious crimes within Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. The Station Commander commended the officers and members involved for the swift action in apprehending these suspects.
