63-year-old man hijacked and shot PE area
Farm attackers arrested in Delmas area

A 63-year-old man was allegedly hijacked yesterday morning in Swartkops while doing deliveries. According to police information, at about 06:55, the driver was delivering meat when he was approached by three men. The driver was shot in his leg and the suspects got into the truck with the driver and drove off. The customer who witnessed the incident contacted the company concerned who immediately alerted police.

SAPS Bethelsdorp members spotted the truck passing them on the Kleinskool road. A chase ensued and the hijackers abandoned the truck in Westville Heights in Kwadwesi. The suspects fled into nearby bushes. One suspect was arrested while the other two escaped.

The injured truck driver was taken to hospital. The 39-year-old suspect was detained for vehicle hijacking and is expected to appear in court soon.
