Kwazakele detectives have arrested a 62-year-old man on a charge of murder following a fatal stabbing incident on Monday, 29 September 2025.
According to preliminary information from the South African Police Service (SAPS), the authorities were first alerted to the matter after responding to a complaint at Dora Nginza Hospital at 17:30 on the same day.
Upon arrival, police were informed that the victim, 42-year-old Lunga August, had been admitted to the medical facility with a stab wound to his chest. He was later declared deceased.
Initial investigations allege that the fatal altercation occurred at a residence on Moyake Street in Kwazakele, and that the deceased was stabbed by a family member.
The suspect was subsequently arrested by SAPS Kwazakele and has been charged with murder. He is scheduled to make his first appearance before the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 02 October 2025.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.
