Eastern Cape SAPS detective’s hard work paid off when three rapist were sentenced with a collective 5 life terms imprisonment sentences and 20 years imprisonment early this week.
Three rapists aged between 24 and 28 have been sentenced to life imprisonment for separate rape cases while a 15-year-old minor was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for raping a 48-year-old.
It is alleged that Vuyani April aged 28 from Fort Malan Mission locality, Willowvale entered the house of a 20 year old victim, dragged her to nearby abandoned house and raped her.
Zolani Matikinca 24 years also from Fort Malan Mission locality, Willowvale is also alleged to have dragged a 21-year-old victim from her home and raped her. Both suspects were arrested and were sentenced at Willowvale Regional Court to life imprisonment and 6 years each.
In another unrelated incident Lubabalo Sabhawu, 27 from Elliotdale, who was known to be a prophet, raped three victims aged between 15 and 16 in separate incidents, he was arrested and sentenced to three life terms imprisonment.
Lastly, in Kwenxura, Mqanduli, Banele Maka who was 15 years old at the time of the incident raped a 48-year-old victim in 2019, Banele was arrested and sentenced to eight years imprisonment.
