40 Arrested during weekend operations, King Williams Town cluster

Operations conducted in various areas around King Williams Town resulted in arrest of more than forty suspects aged between 25 and 46 years. During the operations police managed to arrest suspects for various criminal offences such as common assault, Rape, burglary and theft, driving under the influence of alcohol, drunk and disorderly, Malicious damage to property and possession of drugs.

King Williams Town SAPS, K9 Unit and Flying Squad members arrested two other suspects aged 27 and 28 at a certain Tavern for Robbery with knives. The arrest comes after information received about the whereabouts of the suspects upon which police acted swiftly resulting in the arrest. It is alleged that the suspect saw the Police when they arrived and he attempted to run away however members swiftly executed an arrest.

In a separate incident, an intelligence driven operation with the assistance of Flying Squad members led to the arrest of a 25 year old male for possession of unlicensed firearms, mandrax and dagga in Punzana area.

King William’s Town SAPS Cluster Commander Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga applauded the members for their swift response and hard work in tracking down these suspects. “Let us work hard in making our communities a safer environment for all” he said. He also thanked the community for sharing valuable information with the Police while encouraging them to continue reporting criminal activities to Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
