Festive season operations in the Nelson Mandela Metro are making sure that criminals will not spoil the festive spirit of locals and visitors alike. Beaches, shopping malls and hot spot areas are buzzing with police, other law enforcement officers (Metro Police) and security companies.
Four suspects were arrested soon after a robbery occurred in Bethelsdorp on the night of 22 December 2017 .
It is alleged that at about 21:00 the complainant was robbed at gunpoint of his cash. Information was followed up by Bethelsdorp Trio Task Team and the suspects were found at a house in Geduld Street. The suspects were positively identified by the complainant and a firearm found hidden in a lunch box was also seized.
All four suspects were detained for robbery aggravating an additional charge of illegal possession of firearm was added to one of the four suspects.
Our men and women in blue are out in their numbers and an appeal is made to the community that while reveling in the festive mood, they should be responsible and ensure that their behavior especially on the beaches is within the confines of the law.
People drinking should NOT be driving and place the lives of other innocent people at risk.
