Dutywa Police are investigating cases of culpable homicide and failure to stop after an accident. It is alleged that along the R408 road near Mqonci Village between Dutywa and Ngcobo, a truck driver hit three children on Friday 7 June 2019, at about 16:10.

It is alleged that the children, all young boys aged seven (7), nine (9) and 15 were walking along the road when a truck hit them.

All of them passed away at the scene. The truck driver did not stop and failed to report the accident at Dutywa Police Station. The identities of the deceased are still being withheld until their families have been officially informed of their death.

Dutywa Police are investigating cases of culpable homicide and failure to stop after an accident.

Police call on any witnesses or anyone who has information about this incident to furnish Dutywa Police Station at 047 489 1333 with detailed information. The information will be treated confidentially. The Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu condemned the behaviour of the truck driver for failing to stop and report the fatal accident.
