Concerted efforts in dealing with fraudsters paid dividends when three suspects were nabbed in Bedford.

It is alleged that on 17 March 2020 at about 11:00, three males aged between 30 and 38 years were arrested in Bedford after allegedly forcing a woman in Adelaide to insert her bank card into an ATM. The suspects then fled in a red Datsun sedan motor vehicle in the direction of Bedford.

SAPS Bedford was immediately contacted and they assisted in apprehending the perpetrators. Three bank cards and a cloning device which was found in their possession, were confiscated.

The suspect will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates court.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members for the arrests. “The arrest is a significant breakthrough for us in dealing with ATM fraud in the Province. These suspects will be profiled to ascertain if they could not be linked to other similar cases across the Province”, she said.
