230 Suspects arrested for murder, rape and robbery in Uitenhage
Farm attackers arrested in Delmas area

Police officials operating in the Eastern Cape, King Williams’s Town are and in the Uitenhage Cluster have arrested more than 230 suspects, through high density operations that were conducted over the past weekend, Friday, 30 September 2016 until Monday morning, 3 October 2016.

The suspects were arrested on charges relating to murder, rape, robbery, attempted murder, housebreaking and theft, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm, theft, possession of suspected stolen goods, etc. Seven (7) arrests were made for driving under the influence of liquor.

A total of 18 traffic fines were issued, valued at more than R 9000-00. 17 Persons were arrested and detained after illegal drugs were found in their possession. A total of 140 fines were issued for other liquor related crimes.

Police in the Uitenhage Cluster will continue to combat crime effectively in the Uitenhage Cluster. The South African Police Service appeal to the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime by providing valuable information that will lead to the arrest of suspects, the tracing of illegal firearms and the recovery of stolen property.
