SAPS endeavours to prevent and investigate stock theft continues to yield positive results. Eighteen sheep were recovered on 31 January 2021 at Maladini locality in a combined intelligence driven operation supported by members from Mount Fletcher OCC and KatKop Visible Policing.

Positive information was followed up during the operation and the eighteen sheep were recovered being abandoned in a grazing camp in the valley. It is alleged that the stock thieves who were watching the sheep at a distance managed to escape before the police arrived.

Police call for any person/s missing stock to contact Capt Mochoao attached to Maluti Stock Theft Unit on 072 580 2496 to assist in identifying the stock.

The acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Rudolph Adolph commended the members for the recovery of the suspected stolen stock. “Stock theft remains a priority crime in our District and the sooner the stock is recovered the crime of selling the sheep is prevented.”
