The Butterworth Regional Magistrate Court sentenced 27 year old Bonginkosi Nazo to undergo 12 years imprisonment for the rape of a 12 year old girl. The accused was sentenced on Tuesday 21 August 2018 at Butterworth Regional Magistrate Court.
It is alleged that the victim was at a spaza shop at her home on 15 June 2014 at about 09:00 at Ndakeni Locality, Ngxakaxha Village, Dutywa. The accused came to the spaza shop pretending as if he was buying a box of matches. He grabbed the victim and raped her inside the spaza shop.
The accused was traced and arrested by Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu has welcomed the sentence and hoped it will serve as a deterrent to those men who still of think of raping women and children.
