Eleven men with ages between 18 and 30 years and a 17 year old boy were arrested for stabbing and killing two men aged 37 and 41 years at Kambi locality in Mthatha on 5 November at about 15:00. The suspects were arrested after the deceased went missing and was last seen going out of a local tavern on the evening of the 25 October 2019, allegedly with one of the arrested suspects.

Mthatha Detectives formed a task team that managed to make a breakthrough. The decomposed bodies of the deceased were found buried in shallow graves at the ‘dongas’ pointed out by the suspects.

The motive for their killing is yet to be established and the suspects will appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court on 7 November 2019, facing charges of double murder.

“Let’s make sure we oppose bail. I commend you for your efforts and working tirelessly in bringing the perpetrators to book. Let them face the consequences,” said the District Commissioner Major General David Mhlangenqaba Kanuka.
