Eastern Cape farmer, daughter shot

Johannesburg – A farmer and his daughter were shot and wounded in Maclear, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday. They were shot on Wednesday night at their farm between Ugie and Maclear, said police spokesperson Vuyani Mapolisa.

The wife of the farmer shot towards the men and they ran away. It was not clear whether the family was robbed.

The farmer and his daughter were in a serious condition at Maclear Hospital, said Mapolisa.

A group of 10 men had been travelling in a Toyota Quantum when four of them apparently approached two men and robbed them of R2 500 at gunpoint.

The other six men went to the farmer’s house.
