Durban raid seizes R120 000 worth in drugs

Drugs worth R120 000 were seized during a raid in Durban on Friday night, police have confirmed.

Spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker in a statement said the operation resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect at an apartment in Smith Street.

“Police recovered one kilogram of hydroponic dagga, 119g of methacathanone and 18g of crystal meth in his possession,” he said.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Point police station.

“He was charged with possession of drugs and will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday.”

In a separate raid in Isipingo, a 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with drug possession after he was found in possession of 34 straws of heroin in Alexandra Road.

The estimated street value of the drugs is R1 190.

“Police also seized R560 in cash which is believed to be from the proceeds of drug trade,” Naicker said.
