The divisions in the ANC ranks sharply increased and are again in the spotlights this weekend of 28 July 2019, when the party’s veterans sided with the far left Derek Hanekom.
The old veterans did not hesitate to release their criticism of Ace Magashule’s argument against Hanekom, indicating that the controversial Secretary General Ace’s popularity has declined further.
The Veterans League says Ace and other ANC members who are against Hanekom are just watching the corruption and dividing the party.
And since the Public Protector launched her attack on Pravin Gordhan, various seniors in the party are now positioned in separate camps.
The call of Ramaphosa for greater unity has fallen on deaf ears, and now it seems as if the division is getting even bigger as one wins over another in the perpetual power struggle.
