DA realizes the severity of farm murders

The Democratic Alliance (DA) have realized the severity of farm murders and are taking action. There have been 30 farm attacks in February this year.

In a message this morning, the DA said: “Today, we will be outside the Balfour Magistrate’s Court, as farm murder suspects appear. (See photo below.)

“There is a desperate need for Rural Safety Units in South Africa, with 30 farm attacks in February 2017 alone. Rural safety is critically important to food security, job security, and sustainable agricultural growth.”

The Crime statistics released yesterday revealed that there have been 116 more murders between the first half of 2015/16 and 2016/17.

The DA believe that it is critically important to implement rural security for sustainable agricultural growth, food security, and job security. The day said that the R131.8 million in VIP protection services that finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced in his budget speech should rather be prioritized for vital crime fighting efforts.

While the ANC concentrate on their own internal battles and politicking, they do not take the seriousness of farm attacks and other crimes committed into account. Thousands of people die each year from crime related incidents. South Africans should not live in constant fear of becoming a victim of crime.

The ANC must take responsibility for crimes committed and ensure farmers are safe. Will the governing party admit there is a serious problem and undertake to make South Africa great again. It is a tough decision and as the ruling party, they have failed to put the people first. Can the DA make a difference?”
