The DA controlled municipality of Knysna voted out their own mayor, Eleanore Bouw spies, in a motion of no confidence.
The motion was filed against Bouw Spies by the ANC, but DA councilors were not expected to support them.
The Western Cape leader of the DA has rejected the events and the subsequent election of Mark Willemse of the DA as new mayor. Seven members of the DA left the meeting before the vote took place.
Berg River DA Mayor Evert Manuel resigned two weeks ago before hearing a motion of no confidence against him, while Rhna Stephan of Matzikama had already lost an internal motion against her.
Political analysts agree that the DA’s internal strife, from national to local level, is paralyzing the party.
