Culture of non-payment is ANC’s fault - Ramaphosa

On 10 october 2019, during a question and answer session in the National Council of Provinces, President Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed the FF Plus’s view that the ANC is responsible for the culture of non-payment for services in South Africa.

President Ramaphosa said that the period of boycotting and of non-payment have come to an end and that the time has come for people to start paying for services.

This follows after the Deputy president, Mr David Mabuza, called on community leaders in the National Council of Provinces last month to return to their respective constituencies and change their supporters’ mentality about non-payment.

This is clear proof that the blame for South Africa’s problems, and in particular the culture of non-payment, cannot be laid at the door of Apartheid, but that it is a direct consequence of the ANC’s irresponsibility and recklessness.

The FF Plus will continue to hold the ANC accountable for the culture of non-payment that has taken root and grown during the 25 years of ANC rule and that has forced local government in South Africa to its knees.
