Court to decide on secret ballot in parliament

Die Vryburger

The decision whether the motion of no confidence against Zuma using a secret ballot or open vote may take place in parliament is now in the hands of the Constitutional Court.

Bantu Holomisa of the UDM approached the court on this issue after the Speaker of Parliament said the rules do not provide for a secret ballot.

Holomisa, however, argues that the president of the country was elected through a secret ballot in parliament and that he, therefore, should be removed by a secret ballot.

The court must give an answer on the matter before next week, since the motion of no confidence against Zuma takes place on the 18th April.
