Cocaine discovered by police at Durban harbour

Police uncovered ten blocks of cocaine in a reefer container ship at the Durban harbour on Saturday evening. Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the ship came from Spain.

The ship was largely carrying refrigerated chicken but police uncovered a black bag containing cocaine.

Mulaudzi said the black bag had ten blocks of cocaine weighing 1.5kg each. “This was a random search by our officers. At this stage we can’t say where the drugs were headed. But we are investigating the matter,” Mulaudzi told News24.

No one was arrested during the raid and police were still investigating.
