Clive Derby-Lewis passes away

Front National

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Clive Derby-Lewis at the age of 80 earlier this afternoon.

Derby-Lewis was sent to life imprisonment for the assassination of the SACP Secretary general, Chris Hani, in April 1993. After a lengthy battle for release on medical parole, which was strongly opposed by Hani’s widow, the South African Minister of Justice, Michael Masutha and the SA Communist Party, Derby-Lewis was eventually paroled in May of 2015.

Front National South Africa became involved with the campaign for his release in early 2014 and through that process also came to know a highly intelligent, principled and devoted man. His death is indeed a loss for us as a party, but also for the Afrikaner as a nation.

We will mourn his passing along with his wife, Gaye and his children and grandchildren, but we are contented in the knowledge that he spent the last months of his life at home, surrounded by the people who cared for him.
