Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Carl Niehaus has sparked controversy by calling for the eradication of “whites-only enclaves” namely Orania and Kleinfontein in South Africa.
His remarks have drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties, who argue that such rhetoric is divisive and undermines reconciliation efforts.
The EFF insisted that exclusive, racially segregated neighborhoods contradict South Africa’s constitutional values. The party has long advocated for land expropriation without compensation as a means to address historical injustices.
The debate over racial integration and land reform remains a contentious issue in South Africa, with tensions flaring periodically over economic inequality and unresolved grievances.
Regardless of how they are viewed, Orania and Kleinfontein are firmly established within the legal parameters of constitutional self-determination.
