Cabinet fails and gets ‘junk status’

Die Vryburger

At the end of the year it became customary for opposition parties to judge various ministers in the cabinet and then awarded a symbol,

The DA, in its assessment, made certain ministers look quite good.

The Freedom Front Plus decided in the evaluation of ministers for the 2017 year to give all members of the Cabinet an F-point. The reason is that the separate ministers as members of the cabinet must take collective responsibility for how the country is governed not just can raise shoulders. The Cabinet, as an executive authority, not only gets a failed rating but is being downgraded by the FF Plus to junk status.

This year was characterized by the revelations of state capture through the Guptas and the evasive answers given by president Zuma during question sessions. The deputy president, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, as head of government affairs in the National Assembly, did not take any steps or make announcements to hold Zuma more accountable to the legislative authority.

The expectation was that the Cabinet, as an executive authority, would cooperate and address Zuma to respect the legislative authority. Nothing has been done, and they are just as guilty as Zuma.

The same goes for the revelations of state capture. The Cabinet has noted this but did nothing to act appropriately and announce steps on how it solves the issue. The worst thing was that the state security minister attempted to buy the witness leader in one of the investigations into trust in order not to proceed. Members of the Cabinet had to issue a joint statement to distance themselves from the State Security Minister, which they did not do.

Ministers must realize that as members of the executive authority they cannot shrug it off and say it’s not my department, and say I’m not responsible for that. Every minister has a duty towards each other and towards the people of South Africa and they have failed totally, said FF Plus.
