At least two Board members from the SABC have resigned. The Board has given notice to the presidency that three Board members resigned and referred all inquiries to the presidency.

This followed after alleged retrenchments by the board and infighting with the newly appointed Minister of Communications, Stella Ndabeni Abrahams. There was a stalemate situation and Abrahams suspended negotiations with the council.

The SABC needs R3 billion before March 2019 to pay salaries and debt.

The national broadcaster is one of the many government institutions that buckled under poor management and currently functioning in a bankrupt situation.
